
Bio
Ziyang Huang is an Erhu performer and the founder/curator of Six Arts, whose work blends the expressive depth of traditional Chinese music with fresh, contemporary perspectives. Her performances explore the emotional and narrative possibilities of the erhu while expanding its role across intercultural and interdisciplinary settings.
Huang began her artistic journey at the age of 2 through dance, and at 4 entered the world of music inspired by a neighbor. Between the ages of 5 and 7, her early competition successes brought her to the attention of an erhu professor Jiangbo Zhu, who later became her lifelong mentor. Under her guidance, she was admitted to the Primary School of the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) at age 9 with the highest entrance score, and later advanced to CCOM’s Middle School and University through consistent academic and artistic excellence.
During her studies, Huang received multiple scholarships and served as First Chair of the CCOM Youth Chinese Orchestra. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2021 and moved to the UK in 2022 to pursue Music Education, graduating with a master’s degree from University College London (UCL) in 2023.
Now, she is a London-based Erhu artist integrating Chinese traditional music with global contemporary elements. Performed in 40+ cities around the world( Paris, Hong Kong, Berlin, London,etc.), also running the Ziyang Presents the Seasons concert series; seasoned performing artist and cultural producer with international collaborations and multidisciplinary project leadership.

Birds Singing in a Desolated Mountain is a classical Erhu piece written by Liu Tianhua. This version performed by Ziyang Huang showcases the Instrument’s deep connection to Chinese history and tradition
